Herbal Labour & Post Birth Care

Really enjoyed making up this Herbal Labour & Post Birth Kit for a close friend of mine who is due in a few weeks. Aiming to have a completely natural birth is OF COURSE possible and herbal remedies are wonderful at assisting you through this.
I treat a lot of women in pregnancy with common issues like recurring urinary tract infections, morning sickness, constipation, varicose veins etc and with maintaining optimal nutrition in pregnancy. It's great to be able to empower women through a natural birth as well. Part of pregnancy care is providing information to women on practices such as herbal enema in pregnancy and early stages of labour, the perineum massage and easy and correct ways to ingest the placenta afterbirth.

There are many ways in which herbs can help in labour like; maintaining stamina and energy through a long labour, stress and high blood pressure in labour, an unripe cervix and stalled labour, infection afters waters break, natural pain relief to take internally and pain relief massage oils externally to be used alongside acupressure and also quick and painless birthing of the placenta.
After birth is one of the most important times (and unfortunately the most overlooked part of birth in conventional medicine practice) when herbal medicines can also make a massive difference.
Common issues like perineum tears and inflammation, post partum depression, stress and anxiety, post partum contractions, haemorrhoids, breast milk production or flow issues, rebalancing hormone levels gently and low energy and general deficiency should all be addressed immediately and can be done so easily and safely with herbs.
Proper education and care given to women before and after birth is a topic close to my heart as I see many women in clinic suffering from ongoing health issues like thyroid abnormalities, depression or chronic fatigue that we can trace back to after the birth of their children. Years later improper care for these women after childbirth has had serious life long affects on their health.
