We are excited to be offering this new series of plant medicine events at Ivywood. This series of 4 full days are spaced out over our seasons. During these days we will be spending time in the woodland with the trees and plants there and also out in the apothecary garden and other spaces of Ivywood. We will be engaging in hands on harvesting of roots, tree barks, whole plants, berries, mushrooms or lichen to create medicines together in circle.
To venture into the woodland here is to feel a deeper sense of the magical energy that Ivywood holds. This is an invitation to connect in with the abundance of wild medicine that the land here so graciously offers us for healing.
We will embark on conscious harvesting with each of the native trees and plants as we work with them. We then will engage in our medicine making in circle back in our beautiful apothecary space or in the woodland itself.
These events are suitable for both herb lovers and qualified herbalists wishing to deepen their connection with the medicine of our ancestry and work practically with these wild plants by creating medicine making in circle. These events offer us the opportunity to create new stories of plant and land connection, and traditional skills for our lineage.
We will cover the ins and outs of creating a variety rich and vibrant medicines with freshly harvested native medicinal plants, roots, barks, berries, fungi and lichen from Ivywood.
You will be taking home your 2 freshly harvested medicines created in community from each day.
An tEarrach ~ Springtime ~ Ficaria & Betula medicine – From the Mossy Woodland floor to the Bare Bones of the Trees
For this Springtime medicine making in circle we will venture into the ancient Hazel grove of Ivywood to visit the colony of flowering Ficaria (Lesser celandine). Working with this wild medicine invites you to seep into the beautiful wet woodland floor. We will be creating a fresh hot infused oil of the whole plant and exploring the forgotten medicine of this native beauty.
Betula, Beithe, Birch calls for our attention as medicine makers at this time still quite sparce time of year. We will head into the woodland again to select a some willing Birch branches for harvesting. With reciprocity at the fore front of our intentions we will then engage in the very ancient act of debarking for medicine making. We will be creating tincture from this now lesser utilised tree medicine learning of its attributes as we work.
Please note: these events are partially outdoors in all weather in a woodland terrain.
This course includes a delicious hearty vegan lunch and teas/coffees and snacks on breaks.
